As of December 18, 2025, Israel has killed 70, 669 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023.

Oct 10/25: CEASEFIRE reached and breached by Israel. Israel backing and arming gangs to rival Hamas and destabilize Gaza
Shortly after a ceasefire was reached in Gaza, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes, killing 104 Palestinians overnight on October 29, 2025. Airstrikes have been continuing in Gaza, targeting civilians sheltering in tents, damaged school buildings and other civilian areas.
Israel is also backing and arming gangs in Gaza to rival Hamas. This includes a faction called the “Popular Forces” led by Yasser Abu Shabab, a Rafah-based militia leader. These groups are threatening to derail and destabilize Gaza. Abu Shabab’s group has taken control of parts of southern Gaza under the pretext of maintaining order and protecting aid convoys, but has been killing, looting and extorting Palestinians in collaboration with Israeli forces, and blaming/framing Hamas for its crimes.
These gangs have been operating for months in Gaza. According to Israeli media outlet 972+ Magazine, Israel is using these gangs to engineer “a social collapse in Gaza.” The collapse is being driven by a strategy from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli authorities to empower criminal gangs, fragment local governance and weaponize humanitarian aid.

Israeli-backed gangs were also operating at aid distribution sites of the joint Israeli-American joint Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) project, a highly inhumane and deadly program that replaced much of the UN-led aid infrastructure. It funneled civilians through a handful of heavily militarized locations, where Israeli and American soldiers, along with Israeli-backed gangs shot at civilians lining up for aid. Deadly stampedes also occurred, allowing these gangs to extort supplies, strengthen their power bases and further destabilize Gaza’s governance.
Major international human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and the United Nations (UN), expressed grave concern about GHF. UN experts called for the dismantling of GHF because of its deadly exploitation of humanitarian aid. Amnesty International called GHF “an illegitimate and inhumane aid scheme that risks violating international law.”
Oct 22/25: ICJ advisory opinion on humanitarian aid: As an occupying power, Israel must allow UN aid into Gaza
On October 22, 2025, the ICJ issued an advisory opinion finding that Israel, as an occupying power, must allow unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, support the operations of UN agencies such as UNRWA, and not use starvation of civilians as a method of warfare.
The Court also determined that many of Israel’s restrictions on aid access had breached its obligations under international humanitarian and human rights law.
It reiterated its “call to all States and the specialized agencies and organizations of the United Nations system to continue to support and assist the Palestinian people in the early realization of their right to self-determination;” and
“calls upon Israel to uphold and comply with its obligations not to impede the Palestinian people from exercising its right to self-determination, including by rescinding any measures that obstruct the provision of basic services and humanitarian and development assistance to the Palestinian people.”

SEP 16/25: INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS CONCLUDE THAT ISRAEL IS COMMITTING GENOCIDE IN GAZA
International human rights groups such as the UN and Amnesty International have concluded that Israel is committing genocide.
According to a report released September 16, 2025 by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The Commission said it “urges Israel and all States to fulfil their legal obligations under international law to end the genocide and punish those responsible for it.”

From the report summary:
Explicit statements by Israeli civilian and military authorities and the pattern of conduct of the Israeli security forces indicate that the genocidal acts were committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as a group.
“The Commission finds that Israel is responsible for the commission of genocide in Gaza,” said Navi Pillay, Chair of the Commission. “It is clear that there is an intent to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza through acts that meet the criteria set forth in the Genocide Convention.”
In November 2024, a UN special committee found “Israel’s warfare methods in Gaza consistent with genocide, including use of starvation as weapon of war.” In a December 5, 2024 report, Amnesty International concluded that “Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.” Israeli human rights group B’Tselem has also concluded in a report titled “Our Genocide” that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
In an interim judgement of South Africa’s genocide case against Israel in January 2024, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) stated that Israel is committing a plausible genocide and that Israel must take measures to prevent genocide in Gaza.
Jul/25: ISRAEL IS DELIBERATELY BLOCKING FOOD AND OTHER HUMANITARIAN AID AT GAZA’S BORDERS, LEADING TO MASS STARVATION
Israel is deliberately obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medical supplies, at Gaza’s borders.
This intentional blockade has pushed about 1.8 million Palestinians to the brink of famine, with entire communities facing starvation.
Infants and young children are especially vulnerable to malnutrition and starvation because their growing bodies require consistent nourishment and clean water to survive. With food supplies cut off and healthcare systems collapsed, even treatable conditions are becoming deadly.
Despite international outcry, aid convoys from international humanitarian aid organizations are being blocked, delayed, or attacked, while children die from hunger and dehydration. Israel’s actions amount to the use of starvation as a weapon of war, a grave violation of international law and a deepening of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Israel initially claimed Hamas is stealing aid but Israeli officials have since admitted that there is no proof of this. Now, Israel is making false allegations against the UN, accusing it of failing to distribute aid.

Gaza is facing man-made mass starvation, says World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (July 23, 2025):

Moreover, the US-Israeli joint venture called the ‘Gaza Humanitarian Fund’ (GHF), which opened aid distribution sites at the end of May 2025 near Rafah in Gaza, have been dubbed ‘kill zones’ and ‘death traps’ by experts and human rights observers because US and Israeli forces routinely open fire on Palestinians lining up for aid at the distribution centres. Dozens of Palestinians continue to be killed EVERY SINGLE DAY since the sites opened. Far from offering safety or relief, the GHF has become a site of terror, where civilians — including children — are gunned down while simply trying to access food, water, and basic supplies. ISRAEL BREAKS CEASEFIRE AND RESUMES AIRSTRIKES ACROSS GAZA (March 17, 2025)
After refusing to negotiate Phase 2 of the ceasefire deal with Hamas, Israel began bombing Gaza with some of the worst intensity seen in this genocide since it began in October 2023.
Within just several hours on the night of Monday March 17, Israeli bombs had slaughtered over 400 Palestinians in Gaza sheltering in tents, which included 174 children. The brutality was unfathomable, with children’s bodies piling up in morgues, skulls and other body parts blown open. As of March 21, 2025, the death toll has risen to almost 600 (likely much higher), with the majority being women and children.

According to political analysts, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu broke the ceasefire to secure his political survival amid his growing unpopularity. His government relies on far-right partners who oppose a ceasefire, and resuming military action helps maintain their support. Analysts also suggest he escalated the offensive to secure backing from hardliners before a crucial budget vote and to deflect criticism over his attempt to fire the chief of Shin Bet (also known as the Israel Security Agency). US President Donald Trump also signed off on another $7 billion to Israel in January 2025. Netanyahu continues his US-backed genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza as the world watches on.
CEASEFIRE DEAL REACHED (January 19, 2025)
Despite a ceasefire deal having been reached between Israel and Hamas (commencing January 19, 2025) — the very same deal that Hamas had proposed back in May 2023 that Israel rejected in addition to several more — the world remains skeptical of Israel’s intentions as it has a long history of violating ceasefires. It recently violated the ceasefire with Lebanon in November 2024.
As a ceasefire deal was being finalized, Israel delayed its approval and killed more than 80 Palestinians in Gaza in the days leading up to when the ceasefire was expected to take effect.
As part of the first phase of the deal, 90 Palestinian hostages, mostly women and children, were released from Israeli prisons where they were being held without charge. Phase 1 of the ceasefire will last for 6 weeks, during which negotiations over Phase 2 and 3 of the deal will take place.
While we celebrate with the Palestinians as they return to their homes and neighbourhoods — the majority of which have been destroyed by Israel’s relentless bombing for the past 15 months — we must continue our work towards a permanent ceasefire and an end to to the occupation of Palestinian territories for a free, liberated Palestine.
Number of Palestinians Killed in Gaza May Be as High as 300,000, Difficult to Determine Amidst the Horrific Carnage in Gaza
As of May/June 2024, the Palestinian Ministry of Health – Gaza reported that 40,000 to 50,000 Palestinians had been killed by Israel’s assault on Gaza.
This number remained unchanged into December 2024 because accurately counting Gaza’s dead is next to impossible given Israel’s decimation of Gaza’s healthcare system and civilian operations. Israel has destroyed over 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure. Moreover, it is estimated that tens of thousands of Palestinians are laying dead under rubble unaccounted for.
In January 2025, a report in the world’s oldest and one of the world’s most well-renowned medical journals The Lancet found that this figure was underreported by about 41%, with the death toll being closer to 70,000. This number is still a significant underrepresentation of the actual number.
In December 2024, British-Palestinian reconstructive surgeon Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah told Democracy Now! that he estimates the death toll is closer to 300,000. “This is literally and mathematically a genocidal project,” he said in the interview. Dr. Abu-Sittah worked in Gaza for more than a month treating patients at Al-Shifa and Al-Ahli Baptist hospitals.
And according to a June 2024 report in The Lancet, the death toll taking into account indirect deaths from disease, starvation, and reproductive effects among others, was projected to be 186,000 at the time.

Israel’s genocidal attacks have also led to hundreds of thousands injured and almost the entire population displaced, up to a dozen times or more in some cases.
